Prior to relocating to the Syracuse area, I worked for a small accounting firm for two and one half years. It was not until taking a job with Green & Seifter, Certified Public Accountants, PLLC that I realized how unhappy I was working for my previous employer.
I originally thought that by transitioning from a firm with three partners to a firm with eight partners, that I would find a substantial decline in the atmosphere. In fact, it was the exact opposite. I feel closer to my co-workers here at Green & Seifter CPAs after six months of employment than I did after the two and one half years at my previous firm.
My first instinct, when informed about the longevity here, was that they were going to exclude the newcomer, but it was the exact opposite. The existing employees embrace the new hires and seem to get great satisfaction out of helping others.
Because Green & Seifter CPAs is a larger firm, I have more flexibility with my workload and schedule than I did before. Due to the diversity of clients working with this firm, I find myself enjoying my job even more. Yet, when working on the same client for a few weeks, no two days are the same. This helps keep work intriguing.
The diversity of clients at Green & Seifter CPAs also allows for new challenges in your career. I find myself learning about the differences in accounting among different types of entities that exist. For example, school districts and cost certifications.
Green & Seifter CPAs recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and therefore, I thought they would resist change when I first was hired. However, I soon discovered the partners at this firm are very eager to hear ideas from all levels of staff, and always willing to answer any questions that I have. During my employment here I have made numerous suggestions of ways to bring in business, change procedures, and ideas to differentiate us from the other firms in Central New York – and everyone here has embraced them!
I really appreciate the fact that they listen to the ideas of staff members and run with them. Because of all of these great qualities about Green & Seifter CPAs, I see myself here to celebrate many anniversaries to come.
