Green & Seifter CPAs Participates in COAP Program:
A Formula for Success

Syracuse, NY - June 28, 2007 - Green & Seifter CPAs partnered with The Syracuse chapter of the NYSSCPA, Le Moyne College and other local accounting firms and businesses to offer the Career Opportunities for the Accounting Profession (COAP) program to 25 area high school juniors. Rising seniors applied for this three day program which took place from June 25th through June 27th. The selection process was competitive, more so than past years. Each applicant was required to complete an application including academic information, write an essay, and participate in a half-hour interview conducted by CPAs, said COAP committee member, Lisa Cotanch, CPA and manager at Green & Seifter CPAs.

The goal of the COAP program is to increase minority participation in the accounting profession. COAP students live on campus and attend sessions on college life, accounting as a career, financial aid and more. As part of the program, students take tours of local accounting firms and businesses to see accountants in action.

Students participated in sessions such as cyber security, resume writing, public speaking and presentation skills, interviewing techniques, mock interviews, basic accounting concepts, dress for success, lunch etiquette, etc. They toured Stickley Furniture Store as well as a local accounting firm.

Terrence W. McCarthy, CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner and Partner at Green & Seifter CPAs, presented a session on “Accounting Major & CPA Exam Overview/Career Opportunities” as well as a session on “Fraud”.
